Welcome To The Online Home Of GIT
2008 LGRA/NOTRA Nationals
Lure Coursing Links
GIT (Gazehounds in Texas) is an all-breed sighthound club,
dedicated to the sports of amateur racing & lure coursing. Racing and lure
coursing allow hounds to enjoy their natural instincts to run, but in our case
the lure is just a white plastic bag, or a piece of synthetic fur. We hold 200 yard straight track
(sprint) races the rules of LGRA, the Large Gazehound Racing Association
and 350 yard oval races under the auspices of NOTRA
(National Oval Track Racing Association).
Our races are open to all approved sighthound breeds except
whippets. Not that we don't like whippets ;-) but they have their own racing
organizations. See North Texas Racing
if you are interested in racing whippets
If you are new to racing, here are the two most important rules:
Rule #1
Racing is a very labor intensive sport. If you plan to show up,
plan to work. If you don't plan to help, don't plan to come. You don't need any
experience, but please be willing to pitch in!
Rule #2
See rule #1 above ;-) We'd love to have you come out, but we're
serious about being willing to help.
If you are interested in racing your sighthound, send an e-mail and we'll try to help you get started.
Also, be sure to read carefully all the info listed under "Getting Started"
